Calendar AI, the assistant you already use to build calendars by describing them, can now troubleshoot availability as well. Ask in plain language why a slot or a person is not bookable and it names exactly what is blocking it. That replaces digging through the Troubleshooting View grid or raising a support ticket when a customer tells you your calendar looks full.

How do I ask why a slot is not available?

Type the question the way you would say it out loud. Name the time, the date and the calendar, and Calendar AI answers with the specific reason that slot is closed.

• Go to Calendars and open the Calendar AI launcher.
• Select the Troubleshoot availability chip, or just type your question.
• Ask something like "why isn't 5 PM on 8 August available on my Sales Call calendar?"

There is no setup to do first. This works on your calendars as they are today.

Can I ask about a person instead of a calendar?

Yes. Ask about a team member by name, such as "why isn't Jane available on Friday?", and Calendar AI checks across every calendar that person serves. If they serve more than one calendar, it asks which one you mean, or whether you want their overall schedule.

It works out on its own whether a bare name refers to a calendar, a team member, or both, and only asks a clarifying question when there is genuine ambiguity. If your question is already specific, it answers straight away.

What if I ask about a whole day?

You get one summary broken down by segment rather than a slot-by-slot list. A typical answer reads like "mornings are outside business hours, 2 to 3 PM is a specific conflict", with duplicates removed. If you want the detail for a particular slot, ask a follow-up question and it goes deeper.

What happens if it cannot work out the reason?

Calendar AI says so plainly and points you into the full Troubleshooting View. It never guesses at a reason or invents an explanation, so an answer you get back is one you can act on. Permission checks also still apply, so troubleshooting never shows anyone more than they are already allowed to see.

Who should use this?

Anyone who takes bookings and has been caught out by a calendar that looked open but was not. Appointment availability is behind roughly a third of all calendar support questions, and this puts the answer in your hands in seconds instead of sending you to support.
