The Add Note action now works inside Custom Object workflows. When a workflow runs against a Custom Object record, it can write a note onto that record itself, so the history of what happened lives on the record rather than in someone's head.

What does the action do?

It creates a note directly on the Custom Object record the workflow is running for. Whatever you type into the action becomes the note, and it appears on the record the same way a note added by hand would.

How do I use it?

It is added like any other workflow action, and it needs nothing configured beyond the note text.

1. Open a Custom Object workflow.
2. Add the Add Note action.
3. Enter the note content.
4. Save and publish the workflow.

What would I use this for?

Recording the things that happen automatically, so nobody has to remember to write them down. A consulting business can have a Project record get a note when a milestone completes. A workshop can note on a Vehicle record that a service reminder went out.

• Logging that a stage was reached or a status changed
• Recording that a message or reminder was sent
• Capturing context from a form submission onto the related record

Who benefits from this?

Any business tracking more than just people. Custom Objects hold your jobs, assets, properties or projects, and until now the automated history for those lived somewhere else. Keeping it on the record means the next person to open it sees the full story without asking anyone.

Are there limits?

The action writes the note content. Setting a note title or colour is not available in Custom Object workflows, and will follow once those options exist on Custom Object records themselves.
