Link One Task to Several Contacts, Deals or Companies
A task in Ignite Funnels can now be linked to several records at once instead of just one contact. You can attach the same task to contacts, opportunities, companies and Custom Objects, up to 10 records of each type. This means one follow-up covering three deals is logged once, not copied three times.
What can I attach a task to now?
Tasks used to belong to a single contact, which hid them from everyone working on the related deal or company. A task can now be connected to contacts, opportunities, companies and Custom Objects at the same time. The limit is 10 records per object type on any one task.
Do I have to link everything by hand?
No. When you create a task from a record, that record is linked automatically. Create a task from an opportunity and the opportunity is already attached, so you only add the extra records you want. This keeps day-to-day task creation as quick as it was before.
How do I see everything a task is connected to?
Each task has an Associated Objects panel listing every record it is linked to. Open the task and you can see at a glance which customer, deal or company the work belongs to. This saves opening several records to work out why a task exists.
Can I find tasks by the record they belong to?
Yes. Filters in the Tasks section let you pull up tasks by contact, by opportunity or by the person they are assigned to. That makes it easy to answer a question like which outstanding tasks relate to one customer. Combine the filters to narrow the list further.
Who benefits most from this?
Sales staff can raise one follow-up covering several opportunities rather than duplicating the same reminder. Account managers can tie an onboarding task to both the company and its main contact so everyone sees it. Teams running projects can connect a task to several Custom Objects and keep the coordination in one place.
