Opportunities now has a Forecast tab that turns your open deals into a revenue projection. It weights every deal by its probability and expected close date, so you can see what is likely to land this month or this quarter without keeping a separate spreadsheet.

What does the Forecast tab actually show me?

It shows your pipeline in money terms rather than deal counts. A summary panel gives you maximum potential revenue, expected revenue weighted by probability, revenue you have already won, and how many opportunities are still open. Every figure is drawn from the deals already in your pipeline, so it updates as your team works.

How do I set it up?

Switch the feature on in Labs, then open the Forecast tab inside Opportunities. Forecasting reads two fields on every deal, so both need to be filled in before a deal counts towards your numbers.

1. Open Labs in your account settings and switch on Opportunity Forecasting.
2. Go to Opportunities and open the Forecast tab.
3. Add an Expected Close Date and an Opportunity Value to each deal.
4. Read the Summary panel for overall pipeline health.
5. Switch to the Forecast Timeline to see deals spread across Week, Month or Quarter.

Can I see the deals behind a number?

Yes. Every figure in the summary opens the list of opportunities that make it up, and you can edit those deals without leaving the view. You can also drag a deal onto a different month in the timeline to change its close date on the spot.

How do I spot the deals that are slipping?

The Forecast tab sorts every open deal into high, medium or low risk based on how far it has slipped past its expected close date. A deal is given the highest risk level it qualifies for, and you can set your own thresholds so the classification matches how long your sales cycle normally runs.

What happens if my deal records are incomplete?

Data hygiene cards flag the gaps for you: deals missing a close date, deals missing a value, and deals already overdue. Deals with no close date are excluded from the forecast entirely, so clearing these cards is what makes the numbers worth trusting.

Can I narrow the forecast down to one person or one stage?

Filters and grouping let you cut the forecast by owner, status, close date and more, so a sales lead can look at one person's deals or one segment at a time. You can also override the probability on an individual deal when you know more than the stage does.

Who should use this?

Any business that quotes work in advance and wants to know what is coming rather than only what has already happened. It pays off most if your team records deal values and close dates consistently, because the forecast is only ever as accurate as the data behind it.
