Marking a contact as Do Not Disturb no longer stops them receiving their invoices, their appointment notifications or system alerts. Those three email types now go out regardless of the DND setting, because a customer who asked you to stop marketing to them still needs to know what they owe and when they are booked in.

Which emails now ignore Do Not Disturb?

Three specific email types are exempt, and they are all transactional rather than promotional. Everything else is untouched.

1. Payments (Invoices) — invoice emails and the payment requests attached to them
2. Calendar notifications — booking confirmations, reminders and changes to an appointment
3. System Notifications — operational alerts about the account itself

Why was this changed?

Before this update, switching a contact to DND blocked these emails alongside the marketing ones. That meant an invoice could quietly fail to arrive, or a customer could miss the reminder for an appointment they had booked and paid for. These messages carry information the customer needs in order to do business with you, so they are no longer treated as marketing.

Does this mean Do Not Disturb no longer works?

No. Do Not Disturb still applies in full to every marketing and promotional email you send. This is a narrow exemption covering the three types listed above, not a blanket bypass of the setting. A contact on DND will still be skipped by your campaigns, bulk sends and promotional workflow emails exactly as before.

Do I need to change anything?

Nothing. The change applies automatically to your account. If you had built a workaround — a second contact record, or a workflow that removed DND to push an invoice out — you can retire it.
