Write a Proper Welcome Email for a Learner's First Badge
The email a learner gets with their welcome badge now uses its own template, separate from the one used for every other badge. You can write a real welcome message for people joining, without that wording turning up later when they earn a badge for finishing something.
What is the difference between the two emails?
There are now two separate notification types instead of one. Welcome Badge Issued fires when someone is enrolled and receives their joining badge. Badge Issued covers every other badge they earn afterwards. Each has its own template, so the tone of one no longer dictates the tone of the other.
How do I edit the welcome email?
Both templates live together in the Client Portal email settings, alongside the certificate email, so you can see and edit all three in one place.
- Open Client Portal, then Email Settings.
- Find Welcome Badge Issued listed alongside Badge Issued and Certificate Issued.
- Edit the welcome badge template, and adjust its mute settings if you want it to stay quiet.
- Save. Enrolment-triggered welcome badges use the new template automatically.
Do I have to change anything?
No. Welcome badges triggered by enrolment move onto the new path on their own. If you leave the template as it is, learners keep receiving an email as before, and you only edit it when you want the welcome to read differently.
Who should use this?
Anyone running courses or a membership who awards a badge on joining. The first email a new learner gets sets the tone for the whole programme, and it rarely wants the same wording as a congratulations email months later.
