Contacts widgets on your dashboards and reports can now be grouped by Source. That means you can see, in one chart, how many contacts came from your website form, how many from a referral, and how many from each advert you are running. Source grouping already worked for Opportunities, and now it works the same way for Contacts.

How do I group my contacts by source?

Source grouping is a setting on the widget itself, so you apply it to any Contacts widget you already have or to a new one. It takes three clicks and updates the chart immediately.

1. Open a dashboard and add or edit a Contacts widget.
2. In the widget settings, open the Group By dropdown.
3. Select Source to break your contacts down by where they came from.

What can I actually learn from this?

The breakdown tells you which channels are filling your database and which ones are quiet. If most of your contacts arrive from one referral partner and almost none from the advert you pay for every month, that is a spending decision you can make the same day.

Does this work the same way as it does for opportunities?

Yes. Grouping by Source now behaves identically for Contacts and Opportunities, so you do not have to relearn anything when you move between the two. A source that appears in your Opportunities chart appears with the same name in your Contacts chart.
