See Your SMS Delivery Numbers on Your Dashboard
SMS now has its own section in the Dashboards widget panel, alongside the Email widgets. Five ready-made widgets show how many messages were sent, how many were delivered, how many failed, where they came from and who sent them. SMS is also available as a dimension in Custom Metrics, so you can build your own figures like delivery rate.
How do I add an SMS widget to my dashboard?
Open the dashboard you want to change and add the widget from the panel. The whole process takes under a minute and you can place several widgets on the same dashboard.
- Open any dashboard and click Edit Dashboard.
- Click Add Widget and scroll to the SMS section.
- Pick a widget, set your filters and chart type, then click Save Changes.
Which SMS widgets can I choose from?
There are five, and each one answers a different question about your messaging. Every widget can be filtered by delivery status, direction, source or sender, so you can narrow any of them down to the slice you care about.
- SMS by status
- Incoming SMS count
- SMS by source type
- SMS by sender
- SMS volume over time
What will this actually tell me?
Mainly whether your messages are arriving. Failed and undelivered messages are invisible until you go looking for them, and a dashboard widget puts that number in front of you every time you log in.
- All your channel activity in one place, with SMS sitting next to Emails and Calls.
- Delivery health at a glance: how many were Sent, Delivered, Failed or Undelivered in any period.
- What is driving your volume, broken down by source such as Workflow, Campaign or Bulk action, or by team member.
- Inbound as well as outbound, so you can see whether customers are actually replying.
Where else can I use SMS data?
SMS is available as a dimension in Custom Metrics, so you can build your own figures in the formula builder rather than relying only on the ready-made widgets. Delivery rate and inbound volume are two obvious ones to start with.
You will find this in Dashboards, Reporting and Custom Metrics. It is available on all plans that include Dashboards and Reporting.
