Missed Call Text Back now picks a sending number that is actually able to send SMS, rather than always using the number the customer dialled. If that number cannot text, Ignite Funnels finds an eligible one in your account instead, so the follow-up reaches the customer instead of failing silently.

What changed?

Before, the follow-up text was always attempted from the same number the customer called. Some numbers are set up mainly to receive calls, or are not currently cleared to send SMS, and in those cases the text back failed even when another messaging-ready number was sitting in your account. Now the system looks for one.

Which number will my customer actually receive the text from?

The number they called, whenever that number can send SMS. When it cannot, the system works down a short list until it finds one that can.

1. A number you have successfully messaged this contact from before.
2. Your default outbound number.
3. Any other eligible messaging number in the account.

This matters most when calls arrive on number pools, call tracking numbers, or unverified toll-free numbers, which often cannot send messages at all.

Will my customers notice anything?

Usually not. They miss you, they get your follow-up, and the conversation continues. Occasionally the text will arrive from a different number than the one they dialled. That is deliberate: a message from another of your numbers is better than no message at all.

What still stops a text from going out?

The rules you already have in place. Nothing here overrides your settings or your customers' preferences.

• Answered calls do not trigger a text back, exactly as before.
• If Missed Call Text Back is switched off in your Phone System settings, nothing is sent.
• Contact communication preferences and DND settings are still respected.
• If no eligible number exists, the failed attempt appears in the conversation with the reason, so you can see what happened.

Who should use this?

Any business that cannot always answer the phone and relies on the automatic text back to keep a lead warm. There is nothing to configure: if Missed Call Text Back is already on, the smarter number selection applies.
