One Community Unsubscribe No Longer Stops Every Email
When a member unsubscribes from a community email, only that one notification type from that one community is switched off. They keep getting posts, comments and updates from your other communities, and every other email your business sends still reaches them. One click no longer cuts a member off from everything you send.
Previously, clicking Unsubscribe in a community email could opt a member out of all email from your account, so they quietly stopped receiving updates they still wanted.
What happens when a member clicks Unsubscribe?
The member lands on a confirmation page that names the exact community and the exact notification type being switched off, such as a comment mention or a new post sent to @everyone. Nothing changes until they confirm on that page. Once they confirm, only emails matching that community and that notification type stop.
- The member clicks Unsubscribe in a community email.
- A confirmation page shows the community name and the specific notification type being turned off.
- The member confirms the preference.
- Future emails matching that community and that notification type stop.
- All other community emails and all other emails from your business continue as normal.

What if a member opens the same unsubscribe link twice?
The page shows a clear message explaining that the link has already been used or has expired, and no settings are changed. The member's existing preferences stay exactly as they were, so a re-clicked link in an old email cannot switch anything off by accident.

Can a member turn those emails back on?
Yes. Any notification a member has switched off can be re-enabled at any time from their own notification settings. They do not need to contact you or rejoin the community to get those emails again.
Why does this matter for your business?
A member who only wanted to mute one noisy notification used to end up muting everything, including the updates that bring them back. Scoped unsubscribes keep that from happening, so your engagement stays intact while members still get the control they asked for.
- Unsubscribe preferences apply per community and per notification type.
- Muting one community does not affect any other community a member belongs to.
- Fewer members accidentally opt out of all your email.
- Used or expired unsubscribe links change nothing.
Members manage all of this from their notification settings inside the community, and from the confirmation page that opens when they click Unsubscribe in any community email.
