Tell Your Students Something Without Sending a Campaign
Course Announcements let you post updates inside your courses, where your learners already are. You write the announcement once, choose which courses see it, and optionally email it to course members as well. Course news no longer has to go out as a separate email campaign to your whole list.
How do I post an announcement?
Announcements have their own screen in the Courses admin area, separate from your lesson content. Creating one takes a minute.
- Go to Courses, then Announcements.
- Click to create a new announcement.
- Add a title and your content, then select the courses or learners you want to reach.
- Turn on email notifications if you also want course members to receive it by email.
- Publish the announcement.
What can I put in one?
Announcements take formatted text, images and links, so a launch notice can carry a picture and a sign-up link rather than a wall of plain text. That makes them useful for more than housekeeping notes.
Can I send one announcement to every course at once?
Yes. You choose whether an announcement goes to learners on specific courses or across all of your courses. A timetable change affects one course; a holiday closure affects everyone, and you only write it once.
How do learners know there is something new?
A banner and an unread indicator appear in their learning area when you publish. From there they can open a list of all announcements or read an individual one without leaving the course they are studying.
Can I reuse or correct an announcement?
Announcements can be created, edited, cloned and deleted from the Courses admin. Cloning is the fast route for a notice you repeat each intake, and editing means a typo does not mean starting again.
Why use this instead of an email campaign?
An email campaign reaches your whole list and competes with everything else in the inbox. An announcement reaches only the learners on the courses it concerns, and it waits for them inside the course, so the message is still there when they next sit down to study.
