Put Your Business Details Straight Into Your Dashboards
You can now drop your business details and any saved custom value straight into a dashboard using the new {} picker. Business name, address, phone, email and your own custom values go into widget conditions, titles, text boxes and embed URLs. The token fills itself in with the real value the moment the dashboard is viewed.
Where can I use these values?
Anywhere on a dashboard that takes text. That covers widget conditions, wherever you type a value such as a Source field, and dashboard elements: Embed URLs, Titles and Text boxes.
- Business fields: Location Id, Location Name, Email, Phone, Website, Address, City, State, Country, Postal Code and Timezone.
- User fields: User Id, Email, Phone, Role, Type, First Name, Last Name, Name and Full Name.
- Custom values: everything you have created under Settings, Custom values, organised by folder.
How do I insert one?
Open the dashboard in Edit mode and click the {} button next to the text field you want to fill. Pick a field from the list and the token is inserted for you.
- Open a dashboard and switch to Edit mode.
- Add or edit a widget and go to the Conditions tab, or add an Element: Embed, Title or Text box.
- Click the {} button next to any text input.
- Browse or search the Location, User and Custom values lists.
- Select a field. The token is inserted, for example {{ location.name }}.
- Save and switch to View mode. The token resolves to the real value.
What can I actually do with this?
It saves retyping details that already live in your settings. A dashboard title can carry your business name, a text box can show your contact details, and an embed URL can load an external report using a value you have saved. Change the detail once in settings and every dashboard using it updates.
Anything I should know before I start?
Only dashboard editors can insert custom values, and a token with no value set resolves as blank in View mode. Location and User fields work straight away with no setup, while your own custom values need to exist under Settings, Custom values first.
