The Nairobi Circle - an exclusive insight into how small businesses in Kenya operate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IGNITE FUNNELS KENYA LAUNCHES THE NAIROBI CIRCLE TO DOCUMENT HOW SMALL BUSINESSES ACTUALLY OPERATE
Nairobi, Kenya
As part of its official launch in Kenya, Ignite Funnels has announced the Nairobi Circle, a small, invitation-based working group that will run for 3 months, bringing together Nairobi-based business owners to document how everyday businesses operate, sustain income, and navigate structure in real conditions.
The Nairobi Circle is designed as a listening and research-led initiative rather than a public program or commercial rollout. It brings together service-based professionals, informal and semi-formal business owners, and solo founders for small, in-person working sessions focused on the realities of running a business in Kenya today.
“This is about listening before building,” said Arias WebsterBerry, founder of Ignite Funnels. “Too often, tools and programs are designed in isolation. The Nairobi Circle exists to understand how people are actually working, earning, and sustaining themselves so that what comes next is grounded in reality.”
A focus on real businesses, not theory
Kenya’s economy is driven by millions of small businesses that operate outside formal systems while supporting households, communities, and employment. Despite their importance, many of these businesses remain underrepresented in research and public conversation.
The Nairobi Circle seeks to address that gap by: Creating space for founders to speak candidly about their work, Documenting common pressure points and adaptive strategies, Understanding how structure, systems, and sustainability intersect, and Informing future tools, programs, and media storytelling. The participants will also be taken through Launch Ignition, Arias WebsterBerry’s 9-step success blueprint designed to make the businesses owners transform their businesses.
Participation is intentionally limited to ensure depth, trust, and meaningful engagement.
What participants can expect
Participants in the Nairobi Circle take part in: Small group, in-person working sessions, Guided conversations around operations, clients, and income, Thoughtful documentation of insights, with consent and care, and Opportunities to contribute to anonymised case studies and reports
Insights gathered will inform a forthcoming Nairobi Circle Report, expected later this year, which will summarise key themes and learnings from the program.
