Accept a Gift Card When You Take the Payment Yourself

You can now redeem a customer's gift card while collecting payment yourself, inside Ignite Funnels. Before this, a gift card could only be redeemed by the customer on a checkout page. Now you can apply a customer's gift card when you record or collect a payment on their behalf, so redemption works the same way whether the customer pays or you do it for them.

Whether you are recording a payment, charging a customer directly, or setting up a subscription, you can use whatever balance is left on their gift card first, and charge only the remainder to their saved payment method.

Where you can redeem a gift card

Gift card redemption now works in:

• Orders, then Record Payment, then Charge a Card
• Invoices, then Record Payment, then Charge a Card
• Contacts, then Charge Now
• Contacts, then Create Subscription
• Subscriptions, then Create Subscription

Enter the gift card code, check it, and redeem the available balance as part of the payment.

Note: for Create Subscription, gift cards cannot yet be redeemed on subscriptions dated or scheduled for the future.

It behaves the way customers already expect

• If the gift card balance covers the whole amount, the payment is completed entirely with the gift card.
• If the balance is smaller than the amount due, the gift card balance is used first and the rest is charged automatically to the customer's saved payment method.
• Clear messages appear for cards that are invalid, expired, or have no balance left.

You can see exactly what was paid with what

Whenever a gift card is redeemed:

• Transaction Details show clearly how much was covered by the gift card.
• Split payments show the gift card amount separately from the rest collected by another method.
• The gift card order is updated with the remaining balance after every successful redemption.

Where to find it

Enter the customer's gift card code during payment and click Apply before completing it, under Payments then Orders then Record Payment, Payments then Invoices then Record Payment, Contacts then Charge Now, Contacts then Create Subscription, or Payments then Subscriptions then Create Subscription.
