Charge the Right Tax When Someone Buys Your Course
Course checkout now calculates tax automatically and shows it to the buyer before they pay. The price on screen matches the amount charged, so you are not left absorbing tax you forgot to add or explaining a total that changed at the last step.
How is the tax worked out?
Tax is calculated from the buyer's billing address at checkout, using the tax rules you have configured. That means learners in different regions are charged correctly without you maintaining separate prices or separate offers for each one.

What does the buyer actually see?
They see a breakdown of the tax before they complete the purchase, alongside the course price. Nothing appears for the first time on the final screen, which is where most abandoned checkouts happen.

Can I show prices with tax already included?
Yes. Both tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive pricing are supported, so you can advertise one round figure that already contains tax, or show the tax added on top. Choose whichever matches how you quote prices elsewhere.
Do my discount codes still work?
Yes. Coupons apply as they always did, and tax is calculated on the discounted amount rather than the original price, so a buyer using a code is taxed on what they actually pay.
How do I switch this on?
- Go to Payments settings and add your nexus addresses, the places where you are registered to collect tax.
- Configure your tax rules and categories.
- Verify your business address so location matching is accurate.
- Enable automatic tax in Payments settings.
You will find this in Payments settings, under the tax configuration options.
