Every New Student Gets a Badge on Day One

Every new course you create comes with a Welcome Badge already attached, and it is issued automatically the first time a learner enrols. You do not have to build it, attach it or switch it on. If you would rather not send one, you switch that badge to Draft and it stops going out.

What do I need to do to turn it on?

Nothing. The Welcome Badge is pre-attached to every new course and fires on first enrolment without any setup. The only action you might take is turning it off, which you do by switching the badge to Draft.

Can I choose which badge they receive?

You choose from five curated Welcome Badge templates made for course enrolment. Only those five appear in the Welcome Badge section, so the choice stays quick and the other badge templates in your account are kept out of the way.

Why send a badge at enrolment rather than at the end?

The first day is when a new learner is most likely to drift away, and a small piece of recognition gives them a reason to come back. It also puts a badge in their hands early, which makes the later ones feel worth earning. For you it happens on its own, so recognition is built into the course without adding work.
